I chose a Panasonic DMC-FX01. If you have tried to purchase a camera lately, it isn't an easy decision. First of all, there are so many to choose from. Worse, the customer reviews on a site like DPreview.com can drive you mad. Often, there are a couple of issues that people get hung up on. With digital cameras, there is quite a bit of passion.

On the other hand, there are a lot of really good cameras to choose from. I picked the fx01 because of it's small size, image stabilization and the 28-105mm equivalent lens. It seems like the kind of camera I could have with me most of the time and it has enough features to cover what I really need to do with a camera - which is take general-purpose snapshots that look good enough for small and medium-sized prints.

I've taken about 100 photos up until now. I am pretty happy with the results so far.

I gaze at you

you gaze back too it’s like this every day

lose sight of the land
poke around the sand
take my fin in your hand
and I’ll be happy as planned

we’re drifting here
without a single fear
right beside you dear I’d go anywhere at all

lose sight of the land
poke around the sand
take your fin in my hand
and we’ll be happy as planned

M&M Feeder

M&M Feeder

I keep this feeder outside of my cube. It is full of M&M's so I get a good amount of traffic from grazers who need a quick snack. I have sworn them off though.

A few fun facts I have discovered about M&M's:

  • On average, Each one has about 13 calories.
  • It takes about a mile running on a treadmill to burn enough calories to equal 10 M&M's.
  • You can eat 10 M&Ms in less than a minute without even thinking about it.
  • I believe I can taste a difference between colors, but I am not sure.
  • As a rule, I no longer eat M&M's

Safety First!

Safety First!

I was really happy to see that the airlines have come to their senses on what constitutes a threat to passenger safety. If you check the left side of the next warning, you will notice that the gameboy is not allowed during take-off and landing, but the furbie is not to be used under any circumstances throughout the duration of the flight.

I believe there are a number of other items that should probably fall under this same blanket-prohibition. Harmonicas, for example... and violins, in general should not be played during any point of the flight. No skateboarding should be allowed on a flight either - just my opinion.
